چکیده

The electrochemical polymerization of pyrrole (Py) in aqueous KNO3 solutions using Austenitic stainless steel electrodes by galvanostatic, potentiostatic and potentiodynamic methods was studied. Chronoamperometric experiments show different behavior of the current with time. Correspondingly, I-tx plots were made giving better fitting for x =3/2 suggesting a progressive nucleation with three-dimensional growth and, for x =-1/2 which indicate that diffusion is limiting the growth of the film. Chronopotentiograms are typical of a conducting polymer without any sign of passivation and, potentiodinamic curves indicate an irreversible

Electrodeposition and Capacitive Behavior of Films for Electrodes of Electrochemical Supercapacitors

Polypyrrole films were deposited by anodic electropolymerization on stainless steel substrates from aqueous pyrrole solutions containing sodium salicylate and tiron additives. The deposition yield was studied under galvanostatic conditions. The amount of the deposited material was varied by the variation of deposition time at a constant current density. SEM studies showed the formation of porou...

Metal/polypyrrole quasi-reference electrode for voltammetry in nonaqueous and aqueous solutions.

As an alternative to the usual commercial reference and quasi-reference electrodes (QREs), we propose metal (Pt, stainless steel) coated with partially oxidized polypyrrole as a QRE. The electrode is easily fabricated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) with the metal electrode in an acetonitrile or CH2Cl2 solution of 10 mM pyrrole containing 0.1 M Bu4NPF6. These QREs were more stable than the widely us...

Changes in the passive layer of corrugated austenitic stainless steel of low nickel content due to exposure to simulated pore solutions

In this work, changes undergone at the passive layer of a new type of corrugated austenitic stainless steel (low Ni, high Mn 204Cu type) when exposed to solutions simulating that contained in the pores of concrete have been studied. Changes in the nature of the passive layer have been characterized by X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy (XPS) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Par...

Mechanical Characterization of Friction Welded AISI 304 Steels

There are many industries where austenitic stainless steel needs to be welded specially in power generation industries. Unfortunately the austenitic stainless welding has several fabrication and metallurgical drawbacks when welded by using conventional fusion welding methods, which can often leads to in-service failure. The most pronounced fabrication faults are hot cracks due to inadvertent us...

A Continuum Damage Model for the Stress Corrosion Cracking of Austenitic Stainless Steel

In the present work, the mechanical behavior of stress corrosion cracking phenomenon is described. Such phenomenon presents strong complexity due to metallurgic and electrochemical aspects. A methodology for modeling both SSR (Slow Strain Rate) and CL (Constant Load) tests based upon thermodynamics of continuum solids and elastoplastic damage is proposed. In this macroscopic approach, besides t...
